Christmas food ideas all wrapped up!
Fine foods are always at the top of the Christmas list for
lovers of great taste. And now an East Midlands firm has created
the ideal gift solution for foodie fans across the region.
Award-winning food and drink distribution group Farmshop Home
Delivery has hand-picked some of the tastiest products from
the East Midlands and put together a range of Christmas
gift hampers that are sure to go down a treat. And for those
cooks who like to get their preparations all wrapped up so that
they can enjoy the run-up to the festive period, Farmshop Home
Delivery also supplies a range of Christmas
dinner hampers.
Packed with quality food and drink from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire,
Leicestershire and Lincolnshire, the gift hampers are ideal
presents for friends, family and business associates, while
the Christmas dinner hampers provide all the ingredients for
a festive feast - however many you're catering for!
At the same time, the hampers are helping to support local producers
and promote some of the best products from the East Midlands.
Where it's impossible to source a product locally, like coffee,
Fair Trade products are supplied.
"Our Christmas hampers always go down very well,"
explained David Rose, managing director of Farmshop Home Delivery,
which is based at Shackerdale Farm, Car Colston, near Bingham.
"Tasty food is a key part of Christmas celebrations, and
there's no shortage of quality food right here on our doorstep
in the East Midlands. It makes sense to source your Christmas
food as locally as possible."
Farmshop Home Delivery has been supplying people in Nottinghamshire
and Leicestershire, and elsewhere by arrangement, with food
from the region for the past four years. The venture was launched
as a way to reduce the miles food travels before reaching the
plate, to encourage responsible food production and to promote
food from the East Midlands.
A range of prepared meals using regional ingredients, and known
as Farmshop Specials, has also been created. Dishes include
Sherwood Forest Pork in Honey and Ginger and Trent Valley Beef
in Melton Red Ale.
More recently it has also opened a Country Life Kitchen at Shackerdale
Farm, where customers can enjoy cooking demonstrations and sampling,
as well as being able to purchase products from its range. The
Country Life Kitchen will be open on certain evenings and on
Fridays from 10am to 6.00pm and Saturdays from 9.30am to 3.00pm
for food-lovers who like to browse.
All this has helped the firm win the 2003 NFU Countryside Small
Business of the Year, the IGD 2004 Sir Alistair Grant Award
for Small Business, and be a runner-up in the 2003 BBC Radio
4 Food and Farming Awards.
The Christmas gift hampers come in a range of themes to suit
all tastes. Priced at £20 is the Afternoon Tea Hamper,
which includes a selection of different tea varieties, a shortbread
drum, winter berry cordial and mince pies.
The Gentleman's Choice Hamper features blue Stilton, Melton
Red Ale, wild boar terrine and a cheese selection box, and costs
£25. The After Dinner Hamper, also £25, includes
ground coffee, and various cheeses and luxury chocolates to
tickle the tastebuds.
The Christmas dinner hampers come in four sizes - serving from
two to ten - and range in price from £22.90 to £125.
Each contains key ingredients for a delicious dinner, like local
turkey, fresh vegetables and a Christmas pudding.
Farmshop Home Delivery delivers to addresses across Nottinghamshire
and Leicestershire, and elsewhere by arrangement. Call 0800
