Tasty Opportunity for Nottinghamshire Companies
Mouth watering Nottinghamshire fare will be tempting Czech
tastebuds at the East Midlands Food and Drink Showcase in Prague
on 15 September.
Sherwood Forest Pigeon Pie and fruit pastries are just some
of the products that will be on offer to Czech wholesalers and
buyers at this one-day food festival.
The East Midlands Food and Drink Showcase, organised by UK Trade
& Investment and sponsored by East Midlands Development
Agency (emda), will give two Nottinghamshire companies the opportunity
to demonstrate the quality and diversity of the food and drink
produced in the East Midlands.
They are:
- Farmshop Specials - Run by renowned Nottinghamshire farmer
and entrepreneur David Rose, they will present a range of
quality chef prepared meals using ingredients from the East
Midlands
- Limetree Pantry Ltd - An Ollerton company who produce
hand-rolled savoury and fruit short-crust pastry pies.
The
prestigious event, held in the gardens of the British Ambassador's
residence, will give the Nottinghamshire companies the opportunity
to meet Czech importers, wholesalers and buyers.
Jane Johansen, UK Trade & Investment's Regional International
Trade Advisor for the Food and Drink Sector in the East Midlands,
said:
"As a newcomer to the EU the Czech Republic offers a
number of opportunities for East Midlands companies wishing
to expand their business. The Czech food and drink sector
has seen a large scale investment in recent years and there
are also major opportunities for companies to expand through
acquisition or joint ventures. The location of the Czech Republic
also offers good opportunities, centrally located to offer
routes to expansion into both Western and emerging Central
and Eastern European markets."
"We are delighted to be supporting this initiative",
commented Helen Whitehead, EU enlargement project manager,
East Midlands Development Agency, "as it provides a great
opportunity for foods and drinks companies to showcase their
products and branch out into new markets. If the region's
businesses are to become more successful we have to help them
identify new opportunities and provide them with means to
maximise on them, and this showcase provides the perfect platform
to do this."
The export mission to Prague runs from September 14 -16 and
is organised through Lincolnshire and Rutland Business Link.
UK Trade & Investment gives advice and help, assesses
markets, identifies potential customers, and sets up meetings
on behalf of participating companies, as well as offering
subsidised travel and accommodation.
