Tasty regional dishes head eastwards
A farmer's unique range of quality meal solutions, which
are flying the flag for regional food, continues to expand its
network after joining forces with a second large distribution
firm.
Farmfresh Meal Solutions - a gourmet range of prepared dishes
based on ingredients produced in the East Midlands - recently
announced a link with Holdsworth Food Service to supply to an
almost nationwide audience.
Now the Nottinghamshire-based firm run by third generation farmer
David Rose has also joined forces with a second member of the
Fairway Foodservice buying consortium, King Bros, from Peterborough,
which means the meals will be heading east and available to
even more pubs, restaurants and food service outlets.
"Our dishes are given distinct names so that consumers
can recognise the origins of the main ingredients, such as Lincolnshire
Wild Rabbit Pie, Sherwood Forest Pork in Honey and Ginger, and
Trent Valley Beef Braised in Red Melton Ale," explains
David Rose, managing director of UK Countrylife Ltd, the award-winning
firm that produces Farmfresh Meal Solutions.
"This gives the outlets serving them a unique marketing
opportunity, as our research shows that regional food consumers
can trust is now very popular. This latest link-up with King
Bros will allow us to reach an even greater market, and we are
delighted that we are becoming so firmly established on the
catering map. We are equally delighted that our meals are helping
to support several East Midlands farmers."
Farmfresh Meal Solutions were launched to support farmers and
rural producers in the East Midlands, and in response to the
demand from the public for responsibly-produced meals with traceable
ingredients.
After selling successfully in the East Midlands, the meals have
steadily become more widely available to food service outlets
around the country.
"We are pleased to offer such a unique and high quality
brand of prepared meal, and look forward to introducing Farmfresh
Meal Solutions to our customers," comments David Dalby,
sales manager at King Bros, which delivers in Peterborough,
Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Leicestershire and south Lincolnshire.
UK Countrylife, which produces Farmfresh Meal Solutions, is
based at Car Colston, near Bingham, Nottinghamshire. It is the
NFU Countryside Small Business of the Year 2003, and was short-listed
in the BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards 2003 for its efforts
in encouraging responsible food production and promoting regional
products. David Rose was last year named Progressive Farmer
of the Year in Farm Business magazine.
